Specialty Scarves by Sue (my Mom)

I spent a large chunk of the weekend helping my mom with a booth at a holiday bazaar in Kent. She started knitting scarves in really beautiful soft yarns a month ago. She's been knitting like mad to have enough for this booth.

Click the title above to see the website I've helped her start. Useful suggestions are welcome since I'm not an expert at this, so write and tell me what you think.

Oh, and I'm sure (at least) one of these scarves would make a lovely holiday gift for someone you know, so place an order.

A friends Wedding

...always stirs up thoughts about how we feel and what we think of such events. I hope they'll be happy, I don't know why people need a piece of paper to legitimize their feelings, I'm apprehensive that someone will ask when I plan to do it.... I was raised Catholic, my grandmother made wedding cakes for several years, I have no idea just how many weddings I attended while growing up... the details and the variety of traditions all blur together... my best wedding memory is of my grandma remarrying, my 4'10" grey haired 60+ grandma smiling like a school girl, I swear sometimes I think she has more energy then I do... I also like the memory of a wedding for someone I didn't know, I went as my roommates date, she worked with the groom, anyway it was a very simple ceremony with a pot luck reception afterwards, it felt very much like a community/family celebration, I really liked that one... I guess I've seen so many weddings that seem plastic and unreal, lacking any meaning, that I'm afraid they'll all be like that... I give a sigh of relief when I see something real that isn't covered in expensive meaningless plastic tradition.

Michael at Roundup

Michael speaking: Michael leading the plenary at NTEN's Circuit Rider's Roundup 03/08/2003. Jan Masaoka, Randal Pinkett, Sam Moschek, and Ami Dar are his panelists for a mock 'Politically Incorrect' show.

Michael is in San Francisco for the Circuit Rider's Roundup, a conference on nonprofits and technology. He headed the opening plenary this morning. It was a mock Polictically Incorrect show.

I swiped this picture from a guy named Carl who is posting to a real time Weblog from the conference. (Thanks Carl, I wish I could be there.)

Here is a new painting by my friend James Silvers. I think he is a great painter and I even have some of his stuff posted on my website. (James' Page here.)
