What a clever idea. I think I like this as a zoo fundraiser, but I could really really live without the football tie in. That part is just stupid. (Unless of course it made them a bundle on eBay, I suppose. In which case it isn't stupid on their part, it's just annoying to me.)

| Winter Zoo Visit |
|
We actually went to the zoo for a couple hours on 11/27/05, but I forgot my camera. The tigers were very active, and I was sad to have missed those shots. We also went thru the tropical rainforest area. Michael said he hadn't been in there before. There are lots of pretty birds in there.

Full Moon: Wed, Feb 23, 2005, 20:54
"Full Snow Moon - February: Since the heaviest snow usually falls during this month, native tribes of the north and east most often called February's full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some tribes also referred to this Moon as the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions in their areas made hunting very difficult."

| Yule - Winter Solstice |
|
"Yule... (around DECEMBER 22nd)
also known as: Yuletide, Alban Arthan.
Yule is the time of greatest darkness and the longest night of the year. The Winter Solstice had been associated with the birth of a "Divine King" long before the rise of Christianity. Since the Sun is considered to represent the Male Divinity in many Pagan Traditions, this time is celebrated as the "return of the Sun God" where He is reborn of the Goddess."

| Siamese Twins or Two Headed Girl? |

|
I forgot I hadn't posted this yet. This is a picture by Artana, that I posed for back in July. It for a "Circus Freaks" themed collective art show. I don't model often, but do enjoy it. Thought you all might be amused to see this. I like it. |

| Fire on the Hill tonight |
|
Long drive home from Portland this evening, got off the freeway and turned up the Hill towards home. But we didn't get far, because the road was blocked by emergency vehicles. We detoured around and got home, and then walked back down to see what was on fire.
[click above for the local news article]
Lots of smoke, and the wreckage of a little market is what we saw. They were mostly done putting it out by then. Michael snapped a picture or two and then we headed home to unpack and play with the cat. (He's glad we're home, but making sure we know he is unhappy with us for leaving him alone for the weekend.)

| Make your own snowflakes |
 |
This is a flash thing that let's you make snowflakes in your browser. It's modeled after cutting paper snowflakes. It's clever and fun, and of course I'm a sucker for snowflakes. (Thank you Michael)
Here is the one I made on Sunday. |

| Stuff for sale |
|
Hi there,
We have some stuff for sale, that I've posted on a webpage here, and at Craig's List. And it occurred to me that I might mention it here in my blog too, in the hopes of selling it all off, without the need of storing it until I have time for a yard sale.
There are Apple computers and office furniture mostly. Take a look and let me know if anything interests you.

I started playing this online game recently and I seem to be a little obsessed. I login and check out. A lot. Maybe that's good right now. Who knows. The point is that I haven't been working on this web site much as a consequence. We'll see if I'm still obessessed next month or the one after.

| Which "Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter" character are you? |
|
Online quizes seem to be popular with some people who keep online journal/diaries. I couldn't resist this one, but I'm not going to paste the weird picture description in here for the top result. I'll just relate my top three, because it's more amusing that way.
I got these top three results in this order:
Nathaniel (the hair, cuddliness, and sometimes skimpy clothing I think)
Ronnie Sims (the best girl friend who doesn't kill as easily as Anita)
Zebrowski (Smart ass)
I think the combination is much more amusing then just the #1 result alone.

| Falkirk Wheel, Scotland |
|
This is a cool thing. Very cool in fact.
"The Falkirk Wheel was opened by the Queen in May 2002. Nothing like it has ever been built before anywhere in the world. Boat lifts are nothing new, though the last built in the UK was in 1875. But a rotating boat lift? The result is awe-inspiring and beautiful: the largest piece of functional sculpture you will ever see."
You just have to see this, and luckily there are lots of pictures.

New game bought 6/14/03
I can't believe how hard it can be to find a game for just two people to play. We have several that require a minimum of four. Of course we can play cards, but I mean a board game.
We finally found one. The first game we play took three hours. This of course included learning it all. We've played a couple more times and it's come down to a two hour stretch. Still long. The box tells you that once you get to know the game it should take about an hour. We'll see how many plays it'll take us to get down to that.
It's a fun little strategy game. Complicated but still fun. You have to keep track of trade goods while improving your space ship and traveling through sectors of space battling pirates and trading with aliens on various planets, starting colonies and setting trade outposts.
So far I like it.

| Coloring eggs w/o the kit |
|
I haven't colored eggs in years, but have the urge to do so this year because Michael actually eats hard boiled eggs regularly. I found this site that has info on doing it yourself without the cute little box kit. This site also includes elaborate instructions for decorating eggs.
If keeping it simple like me, all you need is white distilled vineger, food coloring liquid and water. (and the eggs of course) The funny thing is when I went and found the food color I found that there are directions for mixing the drops for egg coloring on the box.
